{"id":1487,"date":"2021-05-24T17:51:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-24T17:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailywool.net\/wp\/?p=1487"},"modified":"2021-05-27T17:51:54","modified_gmt":"2021-05-27T17:51:54","slug":"a-total-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailywool.net\/wp\/a-total-community\/","title":{"rendered":"A Total Community"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-medium-font-size\">One of the most important teachings of Jesus Christ is his statement: \u201cBlessed are all the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofjesuschrist.org\/study\/scriptures\/bofm\/3-ne\/12.9?lang=eng#p9\">3 Ne. 12:9<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" id=\"p3\">It is impossible to pick up a newspaper or listen to a news broadcast without learning of some new quarrel among nations, some new argument among politicians, some new expression of prejudice against a race or a people, or some new outburst against a person or an idea. When I read or hear of these continuing disputes, I am aware of their negative nature. People nowadays seem to be continually against something or somebody. We appear to live in a negative era. What could have brought all this about? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" id=\"p3\">The answer appears to me to be that each person today wants to \u201cdo his own thing,\u201d to demonstrate his complete independence of everything and everyone. We forget that we are not, and cannot be, totally independent of one another either in thought or action. We are part of a total community. We are all members of one family, as Paul reminded the Greeks at Athens when he explained that God \u201chath made of one blood all nations of men to dwell on all the face of the earth.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofjesuschrist.org\/study\/scriptures\/nt\/acts\/17.26?lang=eng#p26\">Acts 17:26<\/a>.) \u2013 <em>Theodore M.
